Abstract

This paper addresses sustainable aspects in tourism in Mexico, with the aim of presenting the current situation of the establishment of sustainable tourism, as well as describing the main sustainable tourist sites, the tourist centers where its implementation is lacking and the areas of opportunity to implement them. A bibliographic review of articles, books and web pages on the subject of sustainable tourism in Mexico. Mexico has made progress in the application of sustainability in tourism, including alternative practices; as well as in the inclusion of sustainability in mass tourism centers; however, efforts are still insufficient to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030.

Author Biography

Israel Osuna Flores, Universidad Autónoma Indígena de México

Dr. Israel Osuna Flores is currently a Professor-Researcher at the Autonomous Indigenous University of Mexico, assigned to the Educational Programs of Biotechnology Engineering in the Mochicahui and Virtual Units, teaching the courses of Sustainability in Tourism, Biology, Introduction to Biotechnology, Tools for the Search and Management of Information and Formulation and Evaluation of Projectors. He has been an Administrative Analyst at the National Commission of Aquaculture and Fisheries, a columnist for the Phoenix Medios Cybernewspaper, Research Director and Coordinator of the Projects Department at the Technology Transfer Office of the Autonomous Indigenous University of Mexico (UAIM) and is a member of the Sinaloa System of Researchers and Technologists. Her professional experience includes having been responsible for different research and outreach projects funded by COSNET and CONAHCYT and having participated in teaching and held various academic and administrative positions at the National Technological Institute of Mexico (Los Mochis Campus), the Autonomous University of the West, the University of the Sea, the University of Guadalajara and the Food and Development Research Center A, C. Delicias Unit, Chihuahua.
