WELLBEING AND EDUCATION: A NARRATIVE REVIEW
Abstract
The present narrative review aims to explore and describe how the relationship between wellbeing and education is addressed in recent literature. This work seeks to highlight the main approaches and findings regarding the impact of wellbeing in the educational field and how its integration can influence academic policies and practices. To conduct the review, 14 documents were selected, including applied research studies, literature reviews, theoretical articles, and book chapters. The search focused on studies published in English and Spanish, with inclusion criteria prioritizing empirical relevance and full-text access. Among the main findings, it was shown that the emotional and psychological wellbeing of students improves academic performance by reducing stress and increasing motivation. Furthermore, it was found that wellbeing contributes to educational equity by facilitating inclusion and participation. Another significant finding is the relationship between wellbeing and long-term success, fostering resilience and interpersonal skills. The importance of these findings lies in the need to shift the educational perspective towards a more inclusive and equitable approach that considers wellbeing as a central component. This change would not only positively impact academic performance but also support integral development and educational sustainability.References
